Description

A warm and comforting recipe that transforms leftover mashed potatoes into crispy, cheesy puffs perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • A little extra butter if desired

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, cheese, flour, eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Stir until the mixture feels smooth and slightly glossy. Adjust the flour if needed.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat until shimmering.
  4. Scoop tablespoons of the mixture and shape them into small puffs or patties.
  5. Carefully place the puffs into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on all sides.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm as a side dish, snack, or appetizer.

Notes

These puffs are great with tangy condiments and soft greens. They can also be baked in the oven or air-fried for a lighter version.
