- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased baking pans.
- Bake for about 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are nicely browned.
