Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  4. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  5. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased baking pans.
  6. Bake for about 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are nicely browned.
