Description
Delicious and warm cinnamon cookies that evoke memories of family gatherings and cozy afternoons.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 tablespoons salted butter (softened)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon (add more for a stronger spice if desired)
- 1 cup salted butter (2 sticks, softened)
- 1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon (for rolling)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the 1/3 cup of granulated sugar and 1 1/2 tablespoons of cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened salted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add in the eggs, one by one, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually stir in the flour, baking soda, kosher salt, and cream of tartar until just combined.
- Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll the dough into balls and coat each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place the dough balls on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between them. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges are golden but centers are soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
The cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature. For prolonged freshness, refrigerate. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to revive their softness.
