Description

Tater tot casserole with ground beef is a cozy family dinner with creamy beef, melty cheese, and crispy golden tots baked until perfectly comforting.

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs ground beef

1 small yellow onion, diced

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp kosher salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup whole milk

1/2 cup sour cream

1 bag frozen tater tots

1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Brown ground beef with onion and garlic in a large skillet until no pink remains, then drain well.

3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, cream of mushroom soup, milk, sour cream, salt, and black pepper until creamy.

4. Spread the beef mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and sprinkle with part of the cheddar cheese.

5. Arrange frozen tater tots in an even layer on top.

6. Bake uncovered for 35 minutes, add remaining cheese, then bake 10 to 15 minutes more until golden and bubbling.

7. Rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat in the oven for the crispiest tater tots.

You can add corn, peas, or green beans to the beef layer for an easy variation.
