Ingredients
1 cup filtered warm water (120 to 140F, never boiling)
1 medium fresh lemon, juiced (freshly squeezed only)
1 inch piece fresh ginger root, peeled and grated
1 teaspoon raw honey
Optional: 1 pinch pink Himalayan salt
Optional: 1 pinch ground turmeric
Instructions
1. Peel and grate the fresh ginger root using a fine microplane grater. For a milder flavor, slice it thinly instead of grating.
2. Heat filtered water to around 120 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Warm but not boiling. Boiling destroys honey enzymes.
3. Add grated ginger directly into the warm water and let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Longer steeping gives a stronger, spicier drink.
4. Strain the ginger water through a fine mesh strainer into your mug. Discard the ginger pieces.
5. Squeeze fresh lemon juice directly into the strained ginger water. Add the raw honey and stir until fully dissolved.
6. Add a pinch of pink salt or turmeric if using. Stir once more.
7. Drink warm on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Wait 20 minutes before eating breakfast for best results.

Always use fresh lemon juice. Bottled lemon juice loses most active compounds during processing and storage.
Always grate fresh ginger root. Pre-made ginger paste from a jar loses its gingerol potency quickly once processed.
For the Brazilian Mounjaro variation, replace filtered water with fresh coconut water and use lime instead of lemon.
