Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt until evenly combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well until combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut out shapes with a cookie cutter.
  8. Place the cookies on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are golden.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store uneaten cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze the cookies after cooling.
