Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Rainbow sprinkles for decoration
  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  2. Add the eggs, melted butter, and citrus zest; mix until a dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into small portions and roll into thin ropes; cut into pea-sized pieces.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the dough balls in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove fried dough balls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Warm the honey in a saucepan over low heat.
  8. Add the fried dough balls to the honey and stir to coat evenly.
  9. Arrange the honey-coated Struffoli on a platter and decorate with rainbow sprinkles.
