Ingredients
1 tsp raw honey, unfiltered and unpasteurized
1/4 tsp pure baking soda, no additives
8 oz warm water, around 100°F, not boiling
Juice of 1/2 fresh lemon, about 1 tbsp (enhanced version)
Optional: 1/4 tsp ground ginger or cinnamon
Optional: 1 small pinch Himalayan pink salt
Instructions
1. Heat 8 oz of filtered water to around 100°F. It should feel comfortably warm to the touch. Never use boiling water as it destroys the beneficial enzymes in raw honey.
2. Add 1 tsp raw honey and 1/4 tsp baking soda directly into your glass. Stir together for 10 seconds until they form a thick pale paste. This ensures even distribution before the water is added.
3. Squeeze in the juice of half a fresh lemon if making the enhanced version. Stir gently. You will notice a soft fizzing reaction as the citric acid meets the baking soda.
4. Pour the warm water slowly over the paste and stir gently for 20 to 30 seconds until fully dissolved. Add optional ginger, cinnamon, or pink salt at this stage if using.
5. Sip the drink slowly over 5 to 10 minutes on an empty stomach. Wait at least 20 minutes before eating breakfast or drinking coffee.
Notes
Storage: This drink is best made fresh each morning. Do not store prepared drink overnight.
Honey tip: Use raw cloudy unfiltered honey for maximum benefit. Clear pasteurized honey loses most of its active compounds.
Baking soda limit: Never exceed 1/4 tsp per serving. This recipe is for adults only. Not suitable for children under 12.
